The University of Windsor’s Odette School of Business invites applications for a permanence-track position at the rank of Learning Specialist, Ancillary Academic Staff (AAS) II - Accredited Accounting Programs, commencing July 1, 2019. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

The Odette School of Business offers four-year business programs leading to an Honours Bachelor of Commerce, and a two-year program leading to an Honours Bachelor of Commerce for University Graduates. It also offers a full-time MBA, an MBA-Professional Accounting Specialization, an integrated MBA/LLB, a Master’s of Management and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Accounting. The Odette School of Business is home to approximately 1,200 undergraduate students, and 400 Master’s-level students. Odette has strong contacts with business, academic and other institutions, with 60 full-time faculty. The successful candidate for this appointment must be a CPA in good standing with at least a Master’s Degree in an appropriate discipline and a PhD degree being highly preferred. Significant evidence of superior teaching skills in CPA accredited accounting courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level is required and relevant research on topics of importance to the accounting profession is valued and expected. The incumbent will have current experience in maintaining relationships with professional accounting organizations and professional firms. The incumbent will also be current in the knowledge requirements and standards of governing accounting organizations and be able to teach in professional accounting courses as assigned. Experience with student recruitment and experience working with the mentoring of student placements and the ability to work in and build a consensus in a collegial environment will be important. Since this role encompasses some key administrative functions, the successful candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and a track record of program administration. The incumbent will be a capable multi-tasker and problem-solver and will have the ability to work a flexible schedule and to undertake limited travel as required. In addition to teaching and administrative responsibilities, the incumbent will be responsible for oversight of several programs including but not limited to the MBA-Professional Accounting Specialization, Post-Graduate Certificate in Accounting and the planned Advanced Certificate in Accounting and Finance.  The nature of these programs may change over time as the accounting field changes.  The incumbent will be expected to keep abreast of changes and make sure Odette Accounting programs are consistent with current professional standards.
