The University of Windsor's Odette School of Business and Entrepreneurship Practice and Innovation Centre (EPICentre) invite applications for a full-time position at the rank of Learning Specialist, Ancillary Academic Staff (AAS) II in the field of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, normally commencing July 1, 2019. The position is a hybrid appointment between the Odette School of Business and EPICentre, and it is subject to final budgetary approval.  The incumbent will both serve as the Director of Programs at EPICentre and teach courses in the Odette School of Business.

Located at one of Canada’s major international intersections, the University of Windsor, considered to be Canada’s most personal comprehensive university, plays a leading role in the future of the region and the Province of Ontario.  The Odette School of Business takes a balanced approach to research and teaching.  The School offers varied degrees in undergraduate Business Administration; a full-time MBA; specialized MBA degrees for managers and professionals, and for the accounting stream; an integrated MBA/JD; and a Master of Management.  Approximately 1200 full-time, and 400 Masters-level students study at Odette.  The Business School has strong contacts with business and other academic institutions.  The School has recently completed an expansion strategy with approximately 65 full-time faculty positions.  The school is AACSB accredited.  Finally, EPICentre is a collaboration between the Odette School of Business and the Office of Research and Innovation Services to support all entrepreneurial activities across campus.  The mission of EPICentre is to deliver experiential learning opportunities that enhance the University of Windsor’s mission regarding education and research, and to furnish skills, tools, and networks to entrepreneurs and professionals to launch and grow economic and social initiatives.  As a result, EPICentre supports many research projects, activities, and programs.  For further information about the University of Windsor, the Odette School of Business, and EPICentre, visit the University’s websites at http://www.uwindsor.cahttp://www.uwindsor.ca/business, and http://www.epicentreuwindsor.ca.

The candidate will hold a PhD in Entrepreneurship or in a closely related area of Management or Business Administration. The Director of Programs is part of a small core team at EPICentre, and the successful candidate must be a flexible multi-tasker and problem-solver who collaborates at all times.  Key job functions, for which a successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate relevant experience or potential, include: taking leadership and active responsibility for all EPICentre programming across campus; managing and developing the mentoring network of business community leaders; developing relationships with and engaging alumni; identifying and applying for appropriate grants related to the activities of EPICentre; representing EPICentre, the Odette School of Business, and the University of Windsor in a regional, national, and cross-border context; and teaching courses in Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the graduate and undergraduate level.

The ideal candidate will have entrepreneurial experience and will have worked with start-ups (youth and otherwise) from diverse disciplines. Because the role encompasses various key administrative functions, the successful candidate must possess excellent interpersonal, technical, and written and verbal communication skills. The applicant must be able to work a flexible schedule and to travel (including cross-border) as required.  In the event that the EPICentre ceases its operations, the incumbent’s administrative responsibilities will be reassigned by the dean.

  • graduate transcripts; and
  • three (3) current letters of reference forwarded directly by the referees to the Dean at the address or email listed below.
