The School of Business invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Human Resource Management. The successful candidate will be expected to teach lower- and specialized upper-level courses in human resources management, including training and development and recruitment and selection. Preference will be given to candidates with interest/ability to teach compensation management.
We seek applicants who share our passion for, and commitment to, excellence in undergraduate teaching in a student-centered environment, and who successfully integrate their scholarship into their teaching. Related to these principles, applicants are expected to contribute to the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Applicants must have exceptional communication and teaching skills, and demonstrable ability to develop experiential and applied research opportunities for students. An ability to teach across traditional disciplinary boundaries would be an asset. The successful applicant must be able to incorporate or reflect Indigenous perspectives or ways of teaching and learning into their curriculum.
As a teaching-oriented institution, we are seeking a collegial, energetic and innovative individual who has successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level and who communicates effectively with students both in and out of the classroom; is able to instruct across a range of the undergraduate courses offered by the department; and can develop new and innovative courses.
Experience and interest in developing experiential learning opportunities, including internships, study abroad and co-curricular activities is highly desirable. Demonstrable experience in technology-supported teaching (e.g. hybrid, on-line, experiential, and computer-assisted learning) would be an asset. The successful candidate will show aptitude for working in team situations; an interest in innovative inter- disciplinary teaching.
Applicants will have a strong record of research productivity commensurate with their experience; demonstrated ability to establish a successful research program; and an ability to incorporate their research into applied and experiential learning opportunities for students. The successful applicant will be expected to develop innovative and internationally recognized research programs and to obtain external funding. The successful applicant will be expected to actively participate in departmental activities and service, initiatives, as well as contribute to academic leadership. A commitment to an ongoing program of professional development is required.
The successful candidate will have a PhD or DBA in Human Resource Management or a related field from a Canadian, AACSB or EQUIS accredited institution, or solid indication of imminent completion. Applicants with a relevant Master’s degree and at least five years of employment in a leading position related to the position might be considered. Relevant post-doctoral or industrial experience is highly desirable. A CPHR designation is considered an asset.
